NYC Build It Back Program
In October 2012, New York City was hit by the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Superstorm Sandy devastated New York City’s five boroughs and the entire Northeastern United States. The damage caused by the wind, rain, and storm surge caused over $32 Billion in damage to the New York area
The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) was tasked with running the Build It Back Program to assist homeowners, landlords, renters, and tenants affected by Hurricane Sandy within the five boroughs.
Prestige Plumbing quickly established themselves as a go-to contractor within the Build it Back Program. Prestige’s diverse areas of specialty (interior plumbing, underground utility, sprinkler, etc.) made the company well suited for the home elevation and reconstruction work which constitute a majority of the Build it Back work. Prestige’s logistical savvy and experienced management team were able to handle the scattered site nature of the work along with the administrative requirements to back up the teams in the field.
Since the Build it Back program begun in 2015, Prestige Plumbing & Heating has installed more new underground water services and sewers and completed more interior plumbing and sprinkler work than any plumbing contractor in the Build it Back Program. Prestige continues to work along the DDC and their construction managers to make the Build it Back Program a success – with over 90 percent of city managed homes completed by October 2017.
