Atria 86 is a 23 story assisted living facility on the Upper West Side of New York City. As part of Atria Senior Living, an organization that develops and operates 121 assisted living communities for older adults throughout the Southwest and East coast of the United States, Atria 86 provides seniors with upscale living in a desirable location and encourages recreation and companionship.

With a record of successfully operating under sensitive conditions, Prestige Plumbing & Heating, Inc. was selected as the plumbing contractor to completely renovate the building’s main kitchen. The challenge was to keep the kitchen operating as long as possible while work progressed.

Simultaneously, the residents’ restrooms were relocated and a small kitchen was added to service the new Bistro located just off the main lobby. Additionally, management needed to create office space within the boiler room for the building’s superintendent. To accomplish this prestige technicians rerouted dozens of different lines connected to the boilers without interrupting service.

“In an occupied building, maintenance issues need to be approached carefully,” said Prestige co-owner Robert Bruno, “A contractor wants to cause as little interruption in the daily activities as possible. You want to have an effective plan toget the job done, and done right, the first time.”
